Penetrating Silane/Siloxane

Why Exterior Concrete Cracks
Exterior concrete is highly porous and acts like a hard sponge. When rain or snow hits the slab, water is absorbed deep into the pores. During cold winters, this absorbed water freezes and expands by about 9% in volume, building up massive hydrostatic pressures within the concrete pores. When these pressures exceed the tensile strength of the concrete, it pops off the top layers of concrete (a process known as spalling). Our penetrating siloxane sealers react chemically within the pores to create a hydrophobic lining. This forces water to bead up and roll off the surface, preventing winter freeze-thaw damage.
